Our Services

ROOFING SERVICES

Clean gutters. Strong roofs. No surprises.

Everything below is work we do ourselves across Corvallis, Albany, Lebanon and Salem. Estimates are free and in writing.

Five services, and four of the five exist to stop you needing the fifth. Gutter cleaning, debris and moss removal, repairs and inspections are all maintenance – they are how a roof reaches the end of its designed life instead of failing early. A re-roof is what happens when it does not.

Gutter Cleaning

Remove leaves, debris and buildup to keep water flowing and prevent damage.

Gutter Cleaning

This is the job that prevents most of the others. A blocked gutter does not simply overflow – it holds water against the fascia board, and in a valley that gets rain from October through May that is how a sound roof edge turns into the soft, blackened timber we spend our winters replacing.

Around Corvallis and Albany the problem is conifers. Douglas fir and pine drop needles continuously rather than in one autumn dump, and needles pack into a gutter far more densely than leaves do. A gutter that looks clear from the ground can still be holding a solid mat of needle litter at the outlet.

We clear the gutters and the downspouts, flush them to confirm they actually run, and bag the debris rather than dropping it in the beds. While we are up there we look at the fascia, the drip edge and the roof edge, and tell you what we saw.

Roof Debris Cleanup

Moss is the Willamette Valley’s particular roofing problem. It grows thickest on north-facing slopes and under overhanging branches, and it does not just look bad – it holds water against the shingle and grows under the course above it, lifting the edge until wind can get beneath.

The damage is slow and then sudden. A roof can carry moss for years looking merely untidy, and then lose a run of shingles in one winter storm because the seal was already broken.

We clear needles, leaves and debris off the roof surface and out of the valleys, and treat moss rather than scraping it off dry – a wire brush on an asphalt shingle takes the granules with it, which is the surface doing the actual weatherproofing. The point of this work is to buy years off a roof you already own.

Minor Roof Repairs

Most leaks are not a failed roof. They are a failed detail – a lifted shingle, a cracked boot around a vent pipe, flashing that was never sealed properly where a wall meets the roof, or a rotted fascia and drip edge letting water back under the edge course.

The photographs on this site are a repair of exactly that: fascia that had gone soft and black at the corner, with daylight visible through the joint, cut out and replaced with new timber and a new drip edge run.

The reason to deal with these early is that the repair is small and the consequence is not. Water that gets past the roof edge runs down inside the wall, and by the time it shows on a ceiling it has been in the structure for a while.

Re-Roofs

There is a point where repairs stop being economic. Granules filling the gutters, shingles that are curling or brittle at the edges, repeated leaks in different places rather than the same one – those say the covering is at the end of its life rather than damaged.

A re-roof is also the only time some things can be put right at reasonable cost: underlayment, ventilation, flashing details and the drip edge all become accessible once the old covering is off. Doing them then costs a fraction of doing them later.

We will tell you honestly which side of that line your roof is on. A roof with five good years left is worth five more years, and we would rather say so and do the repair.

Roof Inspections

An inspection is worth most before you need one. We go over the covering, the flashing, the valleys, the vents, the gutters, the drip edge and the fascia, and tell you what is sound, what wants watching and what wants doing now.

The photograph beside this section is the kind of thing an inspection finds: a fascia corner gone soft and black with a gap open to daylight, invisible from the ground and perfectly visible from a ladder. That is a cheap repair found early and an expensive one found late.

Worth booking before winter if you have not been up there in a while, after any storm that brought branches down, and before you buy a house – the roof is the most expensive thing on a home inspection to get wrong.

KEEP YOUR HOME PROTECTED

CLEAN GUTTERS. STRONG ROOFS. NO SURPRISES.

Most of what goes wrong with a roof in the Willamette Valley starts small and starts with water sitting where it should be running. Catching it early is cheap. Catching it late is not.
